So, that's just what we did! We packed up, and headed for the Maine coast. We rented a house nearly on the beach for a fraction of the cost of renting one at a closer beach here. And, we got great, cool weather! Couldn't beat that!
But, before I get ahead of myself, let's start back at the trip's beginning. We wanted to travel overnight, because we knew it'd be super-long, and we wanted to have Eve sleeping. So, we got her fed and into jammies, carefully tucked into her carseat with blanket and Bunny, and headed out around 10:00pm last Friday night.
All this sounded good, in theory- that is, until Eve woke up around midnight, and kept freaking out; nothing would keep her quiet or happy. Plus, neither one of us were really prepared for the long drive either, so we opted to rest for the night around 2am, having only made it just across the Connecticut border.
Here's our room, at a somewhat-questionable Holiday Inn:
We started early the next morning, much more rested and refreshed. That was good for Ezra and I, but a more "rested and refreshed" little kid trapped in a carseat for 7 more hours was just about the last thing we wanted! There was a lot of crying, playing, whining, singing, and eventual sleeping, and finally, somehow, around 5pm, we made it to our destination: Pemaquid Point, Maine.
We plucked the screaming Eve from her carseat, and...tossed her into another seat- her stroller! This seemed better to her, luckily, and we headed out to see the famous lighthouse on the beach (only a 5 minute walk from the house). Beautiful!
After a really great seafood dinner at the restaurant by the lighthouse, we headed back to unpack and settle in to our new place- which actually turned out to be much, much larger than we needed!
