Train Ride

I wanted to post this bc it was really fun, and something the kids talk about all the time, despite it being a really run-of-the-mill thing to do.

We rode the train.

Actually, I guess it's not run-of-the-mill for them, as they've never done it before, but really, it's just the train to NJ.  Still, they loved it!

I remember taking this train once a year w/family when we'd come in to the city to see the Macy's Light Show and Dickens Village, and it's funny, it seemed sooo cool and fun back then- I totally get why they loved it!

So, we took the train for a strange reason last Friday- the snow.  After being pretty much snowed-in after the last storm, Ezra tried to shovel us out to get Eve to preschool on Friday.  The roads were fine, it's just that we couldn't get out of our parking spot, and then the frozen alley.  Anyway, he did a great job, but just couldn't get through the ice layer on the bottom, so there was a lot of slipping/sliding.  Rather than risk us being stuck again (and missing more school), he took the car to a train stop in NJ, parked it, and took the train back that night- it was waiting for us the next morning then when we got over on the train.

Well, we got up super-early, and were nearly walking out the door when we got the call that school had been cancelled.  Fantastic.  So, we still headed out- we had some errands to run, and also were planning to meet Ezra's family for my birthday lunch.

Ezra was even thoughtful enough to get us a train ticket the night before, which made traveling a lot easier!

We made it to the station where the car was parked, and stayed up on the high platform to spot the car, and then ventured down to it- could have been lots of fun searching around the huge parking lot!

After the errands, we went to my birthday lunch- where the traditional birthday cupcakes were waiting! :)  Is there anything better?  I don't think so!
