On Friday night, we took the kids to Independence Mall to hear the Philly Pops- they were playing patriotic songs, of course! It was a great night, but the music started at 8:30, already past bedtime, so we had two sleepy kids on our hands for most of the concert. After the concert, we went to Franklin Fountain in Old City for ice cream- so good! Nothing beats butter pecan ice cream!

Since we went to Delaware last year for the 4th, so we decided to stay here this year. We went to watch the parade with Ezra's family, which was nice- his Dad's church even has a float in the parade.

After that, we went to the boat- not for sailing, but for a BBQ on the dock. It started off as a very nice afternoon- Ezra's family brought food for shishkabobs, which were lots of fun to make! However, both kids were kinda well past naptimes, and...well, were disasters! Eve wouldn't touch the dock, and had to be held (annoying), and Judah was fine, actually, until he wanted food. That's when we realized that we'd left his bottle in the car...which was easily a 10-minute walk, one-way. So, after listening to loads of crying, and dealing with failed attempts at trying to feed him from Eve's sippy cup (don't even attempt that-doesn't work!), he was eventually fed, things calmed down, and the non-sailing people headed home. Ezra made it back about two hours later after the sailing trip, and we picked him up at Penn's Landing. There were no pictures from the BBQ-extravaganza because...well, it was pretty stressful!
We were all pretty exhausted, so there were no fireworks for us...sad. The kids were both in bed early, and Ezra and I just watched the 4th festivities on tv. There was a big concert at the Art Museum with bands I'd never heard of, but that Sheryl Crow headlined- she played for about an hour and a half, and pretty much did every hit she has! Then, it was on to the fireworks- which must have been nice if you were there, but it's pretty strange watching them on tv. After that, off to bed!
